Raft Station at the Shipbuilder’s Lane in Potsdam
Almost everybody has devoured Mark Twain’s stories with big children’s eyes, and probably more than once. With Huckleberry Tours, this now becomes a reality for Berlin and Potsdam: holidays on a float, family-friendly and romantic. In Potsdam you can find us at the Shipbuilder’s Lane.
A journey on these rafts is a true adventure, especially for your children, as you follow in the steps of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. You can explore the surrounding area on your own, find your individual route, and maybe spend the night outdoors. You can get away from it all and leave everyday life behind. Simply stated, the romanticism of a peacefully drifting raft can not be beaten.
Technically speaking, a maximum of 8 persons are permitted per raft. Each raft is equipped with an engine and a weatherproofed little cabin with side windows and rollable tarps. No licence is needed to drive the boat. There is enough space for sunbathers on the platform and the roof. On board there are lockable boxes, safety and boat equipment, a dry toilet, oil lamps, water containers, a gas burner, cookware, and dishes for 4 people.
The lie-down area of 1.80 x 2.20 metres can be set up with just a little effort. Usually 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children can find enough space to sleep there. Remember to bring your own blankets or sleeping bags.
The tank capacity is 25 liters, and the engine uses up about 1 liter per hour, assuming that you drive moderately. The tank can be refilled at filling stations if necessary.
The only thing you need to do is supply yourself as if you were going camping, and everything else is ready to go!
