Waschhaus Potsdam gGmbH

Waschhaus Potsdam is a place for arts and culture of various kinds. Since 1993, Waschhaus has operated as an incorporated society using the four buildings in the Shipbuilder's Lane: Offizze, the Boiler Building, the Russian Hall, and the former Laundry. Because of the current restoration of the Russian Hall, Waschhaus Potsdam also used to use the oldest riding hall on the location, the Schinkel Hall.

The meager beginnings of Waschhaus as a loose coalition of art enthusiasts is not to be undermined, as it was these enthusiasts who first realized the cultural potential of the former military and industrial complex.

With a program of music, film, dance, and the fine arts, Waschhaus is now established nationwide as a cultural center. More than 170,000 visitors every year come to see the events, concerts, literature nights and exhibitions. Beside working with well-known international artists, Waschhaus e.V. seeks to be a platform for talented young artists and to support their artistic development. Various kinds of art, full of tension and in various styles, are presented in individual programs. Through this process, Waschhaus seeks to discover new talent and support stylistic movements.
